“What I'm thinking about is the connection between commerce and art, and how artists can live like myself.

I feel that photography is shifting from the function of "recording" to the function of "creation".

In terms of "recording," videos with a large amount of information have been prioritized, and I feel that photography works on the imagination of individual viewers.

Because it is a still, flat, and information-poor photograph, it is possible to approach many imaginary thoughts that differ depending on the viewer's environment and feelings.”

Shun Tsuiki finds photography endlessly appealing.

Shun Tsuiki's personal creation process:

“At the time of creation, what I am thinking about is not "how to shoot something" but "how to create something that is not there".

Therefore, I don't go out with my camera to meet and record the subject, but I use imagination in a small room and deliver to someone in that small room.

My main style is self-portrait, and I often shoot during sunset, mix cool and warm colours, and don’t make the outline clear.

I love the theory of abstract painting and brain science, and I'm looking for something that can be inspired by it and turned into photography.”.

What being featured means to Shun Tsuiki:

“I truly respect media that feature artists, such as le freak media, and feel that they create a different context and value from the traditional art industry and how the artist works.

I would like to take on various challenges such as exhibitions.”
