When Foivos turned 18 years old, he decided to move to the city of Ioannina in order to attend his academic studies at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of Ioannina. Almost immediately his involvement with the art of photography emerged, and still follows him now.

“In early 2017, when I underwent a surgery, nothing could make me find the strength to get out of bed. As my family struggled with trying to lift my spirit, I thought that buying a camera, could be an extremely efficient idea for me. Since I was in bed for over a month, my daily routine consisted to a large extent on social media. So almost immediately I was influenced by the beautiful photos that I found constantly in front of me. My family agreed buying me this “gift” and that's how my journey started with my camera in hand.

Almost immediately I joined the photographic association of the university, known as FOSPI, in which I took part in many activities such as exhibitions, competitions, trips, etc.

I quickly realized that my photographic style had nothing to do with the 4 walls of my house. I knew I could not handle a perfect photo studio, with specific concepts and charming setups. I did not want that. What I really wanted was to take photographs and catch moments from my routes, and travels. Either my hikes were related to a long trip, or a summer excursion to a beautiful beach, it didn’t matter because that was where my heart was. In addition, I especially appreciate those photos where in some rare moments you can capture the whole culture of a country, but at the same time the influences that that country received from other cultures.”

What being featured means to Foivos Polyzos:

“Being published on media, for instance Instagram, websites or TV, is a recognition that the point I want to show through my work, may have some interest in spectator’s mind. Something like this can only give you the strength to continue doing what you love.”
